Recipe: Yellow Angel Food Cake

Ingredients

  • 5 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 5 egg whites
  • 3/4 tsp cream of tartar

Instructions

  1. Beat egg yolks and cold water until very frothy
  2. Sift together sugar, flour, salt and brown sugar
  3. Add carefully to egg yolk mixture
  4. Add vanilla
  5. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff, fold carefully into batter
  6. Bake in tube pan at 350 degrees F for 1 hour
  7. Turn pan upside down until cool
