The original Waldorf Salad recipe consisted only of diced red-skinned apples, celery, and mayonnaise. Chopped walnuts were added later to this now American classic. Some prefer their Waldorf salad made with yogurt, instead of mayo. I’m not personally a fan of mayo so I’d recommend the yogurt route but the choice is always yours to make.
- 2 cups diced apple
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 cup green grapes
- 1/3 cup coarsely chopped nuts
- 4 cups cut lettuce
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- Combine ingredients in large bowl. Serve chilled.
