TacosRecipe: Tacos


  • 1 lb bag pinto beans
  • 1 large onion
  • 1/2 lb bacon
  • 1-1/2 lb hamburger
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 4+ tbsp chili powder
  • 1 large can tomato sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Cook together the beans, large onion and bacon
  2. Drain off almost all of the liquid
  3. Mash with mixer (like mashed potatoes)
  4. Leave some juice on beans for mixing
  5. In a separate pan, brown hamburger, medium onion, garlic, chili powder
  6. Drain and add the tomato sauce
  7. Simmer for 1 hour
  8. Then mix together with bean mixture
  9. Salt and pepper the mixture as it cooks
  10. When you warm beans and need fluid, never add water – add lard (shortening, margarine or butter works too) – this adds flavor
