Stuffed Burgers

When you think of stuffed burgers, many Minnesotans will think of the Jucy Lucy — stuffed with molten cheese — but these stuffed burgers are crammed full of creamy soup and bread, almost like stuffing. It’s like the Thanksgiving edition of the hamburger.

Recipe: Stuffed Burgers

  • 1-1/2 cup herb croutons
  • Minced onion
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  1. Mix croutons, onion and water
  2. Then mix hamburger, milk, salt and pepper
  3. Make 4 patties of the hamburger mixture, flatten to 6 inch circles
  4. Place crouton mixture on top
  5. Pinch up sides tightly
  6. Place in casserole
  7. Mix the soup, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce, pour over the patties
  8. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes to 1 hour
  9. They may be turned once. The mixture can be divided into smaller patties
