Sliced Dill Pickles

This sliced dill pickles recipe has been tried and refined and passed down through generations of Minnesotan families. Try these and you’ll never buy another jar of pickles from your local grocery store.

Sliced Dill Pickles

American, Side
  • 4 cups dark vinegar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup pickling salt
  • Slice pickles thick. In each qt. jar put 3 pieces of garlic (or 1 tsp garlic powder), 1 tsp dill (or 1 head fresh dill) and a few slices of onion. Put pickles in jar. Pour hot syrup over pickles. If you are going to seal your jars, have jars scalded and hot, f not, these can be kept in refrigerator.
  • Shake jars to distribute flavor.
