Savory Ham Casserole

Recipe: Savory Ham Casserole


  • 1-1/2 lb ham, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1-1/2 cup milk
  • 1-1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced rip olives
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 (2-1/2 oz) jar sliced mushrooms, drained


  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Cook rice according to package directions
  3. Cook green pepper in butter until tender, blend in flour
  4. Add milk, cook, stirring constantly until thickened
  5. Add cheese, stirring until melted
  6. Remove from heat
  7. Add ham, olives, almonds and mushrooms
  8. Stir in rice, mix lightly until well blended
  9. Pour mixture into 2-1/2 quart casserole
  10. Cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes
