A simple but delicious pickle recipe that has to be tried to appreciate its simplicity and flavor-packed punch. I know that my own mom loved making these pickles and as tasty as they are, they deserve to be passed down through many more generations of Minnesotans.


American, Side
  • 4 cups vinegar
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup pickling salt
  • 1 1/3 tsp turmeric
  • 1 1/3 tsp celery seed
  • 1 1/3 tsp mustard seed
  • Mix well over medium heat. Pour over pickles when cool. Pickles should be sliced with some onion added. Keep in refrigerator.
