Meringue Kisses

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
  • dash of salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 dozen milk chocolate Hershey's Kisses
  • In small mixer bowl, combine egg whites, vanilla, cream of tartar, peppermint extract and salt; beat to soft peaks. Very gradually add sugar, beating until very stiff peaks form. Drop from tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheet, about 1 1/2 inches apart. Press one chocolate kiss into each meringue. Bring meringue up and over sides of candies with knife or narrow spatula, swirling top. Sprinkle with green or red sugar crystals. Bake in 275 degree oven for 30 minutes. Immediately remove from baking sheet and cool.
