Meatball Stew

meatball stewMeatball stew is the kind of meal that warms you to the bones. The thick gravy-like sauce compliments the vegetables and meatballs nicely and results in a meal which Dinty Moore would be jealous of.

Recipe: Meatball Stew


  • 1-1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup small bread cubes
  • can of carrots, drained
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp shortening
  • 1 cup beef broth or gravy
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • can of potatoes, drained


  1. Mix beef, egg, bread cubes, salt and thyme
  2. Shape into balls and brown in fat
  3. Pour off extra fat, add rest of ingredients and cook slowly about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally
