This isn’t a recipe for gingerbread as in cookies or houses but rather for Gingerbread in loaf form. Its flavor lends to it being an autumn and winter bread but if you are a fan of the flavors of ginger, cinnamon and cloves then this bread has no inappropriate season.

Recipe: Gingerbread


  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1-1/2 tsp baking powder or 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • Cinnamon and Cloves


  1. Cream butter, sugar and eggs
  2. Add remaining ingredients and beat well
  3. Bake in 350 degree F oven for 25-30 minutes in loaf pan
