Ingredients

  • 2 lbs raisins
  • 1 lb dates
  • 1 lb citron
  • 1 lb walnuts
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup butter
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda in 1 cup sour milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 glass wine
  • 4 1/2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs
  2. Add molasses
  3. Combine 1/2 cup flour with fruit
  4. Mix rest of flour with dry ingredients
  5. Combine liquids
  6. Add alternately, adding wine last
  7. Add fruit
  8. Bake in 300 degree F oven in loaf pans lined with brown paper, greased
  9. Bake for approximately 2 hours
