French Butter Puffs

French Butter Puffs may suffer from a case of mistaken identity. Baked in muffin tins, these flaky pastries are a delight that seems to come from the French countryside instead of your own kitchen.

Recipe: French Butter Puffs

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Cream butter
  2. Add 1/2 cup sugar and beat
  3. Blend in egg
  4. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg and add alternately with milk
  5. Fill greased muffin tins 1/3 full
  6. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes
  7. Immediately roll in melted butter and then in mixture of 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon
