Cut Out Sugar Cookies and Butter Icing

Cut Out Sugar Cookies and Butter Icing Recipe
  • Cookie Dough
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tsp milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4tsp salt
  • Butter Icing
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons milk
  • Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add egg beat until light and fluffy. Stir in milk. In another bowl mix together flour, baking powder & salt. Then blend dry mixture into wet mixture. Divide dough in half & chill 1 hour.
  • While chilling dough make the icing. On lightly floured surface roll of the dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 375 for 6-8 minutes. Cool slightly remove from baking sheet onto cooling rack. Frost with butter Icing and decorate.
