Recipe: Chocolate Revel Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups quick oatmeal
  • FILLING
  • 12 oz. pkg chocolate chips
  • 15 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup nutmeats (optional

Instructions

  1. Make the base by creaming the butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  2. Mix in eggs and vanilla
  3. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt
  4. Add to first mixture and also oatmeal
  5. Mix
  6. Spread oatmeal mixture in bottom of greased 15 1/2x 10 1/2 inch pan
  7. Reserve some of oatmeal mixture for top
  8. Cover with chocolate mixture made by melting first three filling ingredients together, add salt, nuts and vanilla
  9. Put reserved oatmeal mixture over top
  10. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes
  11. Do not overbake
