Chess Pie

Chess Pie is a deceptive name for this hearty, nut-filled dessert. With an heirloom feel, you’ll love the inclusion of chewy and sweet dates.

Recipe: Chess Pie


  • 1 unbaked pie shell
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup chopped nuts


  1. Cream butter and sugar
  2. Beat egg yolks with milk
  3. Add dates and nuts
  4. Combine and pour into unbaked pie shell and bake at 325 degrees F until set
  5. It’s done when knife inserted comes out clean
  6. Serve with whipped cream
