Caramel Bars

Recipe: Caramel Bars

Ingredients

  • 34 caramels
  • 5 tbsp evaporated milk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup margarine
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup nuts

Instructions

  1. Melt caramels and evaporated milk in double boiler, cool slightly
  2. Mix other ingredeints, except chocolate chips and nuts
  3. Work until crumbly
  4. Press half of dry mixture into 7×11 inch pan and bake 10 minutes
  5. Put the caramel mixture over the baked bars,s catter the chips, nuts and remaining crumbs over all and bake 15 minutes more at 350 degrees F
