Cabbage Salad

In this quick German-inspired side dish, cabbage is cooked until just tender and combined with a handful of ingredients to make a delicious and flavorful cabbage salad.

Cabbage Salad

   Serves 20
  • 1 large head cabbage, chopped
  • 1/2 large green pepper, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 small can red pimentos, chopped
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1/2 tbsp. celery salt
  • 1 tbsp. celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
  • Mix sugar, vinegar, salt, celery seed, celery salt and mustard seed together. Place in jar and shake thoroughly to blend. Pour dressing over the mixed vegetables and mix all together. Refrigerate. Let stand 24 hours before serving. Serves 20
