Bread Pudding

  • 6 slices day old bread
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Break bread into small pieces into an 8 inch square pan, drizzle butter over and sprinkle with raisins, if desired.
  • In medium sized bowl, combine beaten eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Beat until well mixed. Pour over bread and lightly push down with fork until bread is covered and soaking in the egg mixture.
  • Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until top springs back when lightly tapped.
  • Double quantities for 9x13 inch pan
