Beef Jardiniere

Recipe: Beef Jardiniere

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp flour
  • Dash of pepper
  • 1 lb round steak
  • 1 small clove garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1/2 green pepper, cut in thin strips
  • 2 cups coarsely shredded cabbage
  • Cooked rice
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 can brown gravy
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp spy sauce

Instructions

  1. Pound flour and pepper into meat, cut in strips 1/2 inch thick and 2 inches long
  2. Brown meat in shortening with garlic and onion
  3. Blend gravy, water, soy sauce and sugar
  4. Pour over meat, cover and cook slowly 30 minutes, stirring occasionally
  5. Add vegetables, cook 15 minutes longer or until vegetables are tender
  6. Thicken if desired
  7. Serve over rice
  8. Should be made in electric fry pan
