Baked Lasagna

baked lasagnaA thick and hearty Baked Lasagna recipe straight out of the heart of farm country in south-central Minnesota. This Italian favorite is packed with cheese and meat, perfect to satisfy the heartiest of appetites.

Recipe: Baked Lasagna


  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tbsp parsley flakes
  • 1 tbsp basil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1lb. can tomatoes
  • 2 6 oz. cans tomato paste
  • 10 oz. lasagna noodles
  • 3 cups cream style cottage cheese
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp parsley flakes
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese


  1. Brown meat slowly, then spoon off excess fat
  2. Add next 7 ingredients
  3. Simmer uncovered about 30 minutes to blend flavors, stirring occasionally
  4. Cook noodles in boiling water until tender, drain and rinse in cold water
  5. Combine cottage cheese with eggs, seasonings and Parmesan cheese
  6. Place half of the cooked noodles in a 13x9x2 inch baking dish or pan, spread half of the cottage cheese mixture over noodles, add half of the Mozzarella cheese and half of the meat, repeat layers
  7. Bake 30-45 minutes at 350 degrees F
  8. Let stand 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares
