Autumn Loaf

As the name implies, Autumn Loaf is a tasty fall treat. A delicious bread with all of the flavors you’d expect from autumn – I like to think of it as the pumpkin pie of breads.

Recipe: Autumn Loaf

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1-1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup walnuts

Instructions

  1. Cream together margarine and sugar
  2. Add vanilla and eggs
  3. Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves
  4. Add alternately to creamed mixture the dry ingredients and the pumpkin
  5. Add chocolate chips and walnuts
  6. Place in greased loaf pan
  7. Sprinkle some nuts on top
  8. Bake at 350 degrees F for 60-70 minutes or until done
  9. Remove from oven and let set in pan for 15 minutes
  10. Makes 1 large loaf or 2 small loaves
